I wouldn't be amazed if there won't be one. It was in DJ Mag wasn't it where Armin stated that he will go into "hibernation" in 2009, to be able to spend more time in the studio, make more remixes and finish a new artist album he wants to release in 2010.

Let me change around the question: why would he do it? Ofcourse for pleasing the fans, but yet again it is repeating the same concept again he did in 2005, 2006 and 2008 and in fact is still doing it. If he does AO in 2009 I would rather see Armin performing in different countries where AO hasn't been yet or Armin comes there maybe once a year.

Also check Eric's reply. Armin stated a few times already he wants to focus more on productions and remixes. If that's gonna happen, we'll see in 2009 I guess. With him becoming #1 again, the demand for booking Armin is probably bigger then ever before.

There's not much news to report I guess. January usually is a slow month for clubbing. After Christmas new dates will probably start to pop up.

Armin said in a recent interview that he would go a little bit into hibernation during 2009 to work on a new artist album. My guess would be that this will influence his touring schedule. To what extent is hard to say without factual information, but it seems likely that he will do less gigs in 2009 than he did in 2008. Less gigs means less activity in this topic too.

Isn't he planning to get married? Maybe this could be the real reason happy.gif I wonder then which tours he would sacrifice...hope its not the ones in Europe mellow.gif

I went last year and I can say its a decent club but they had tables on the dancefloor so it kinda ruined the atmosphere as people were drinking, socialising and listening to the music all at the same time. But thats the Chinese way of 'clubbing' so be prepared for a culture shock! Saying that, his set was one of the best I've heard him play so I have fond memories. Seeing as he'll be playing in Shanghai on the Sunday, I'd definitely do it if I were you! Just make sure you don't eat the food on the train laugh.gif

OMG! I had such a fun night! It is true there were all tables on the dancefloor. But they moved some out to make the dancefloor bigger for the expats and foreign students. I met some awesome people that night! But clubbing in China is indeed a culture shock! I mean, the chinese hardly dance at al. They played with dices on their tables and drink fake chivas! laugh.gif And at the front of the booth there were some chinese but not dancing just standing and waving with big glow sticks.. blink.gif laugh.gif And behind them were al the foreigners, including me, having a blast!

Armin played good! Loved it. Such a coincidence that he was in Hangzhou. It was fun to see him in a club. Because here in Holland you could not see him anymore in such a small venue. And there he was only 3 meters in front of me, I could almost count his pores tongue.gif
Although, I went not seeing him in Shanghai. I was there in SH at the time he played. But I went instead to another club. Oh and I didn't eat the food on the train tongue.gif
Was such a lovely night!
Vrij
It seems that over there in Hangzhou is pretty much the only place where you'll find Armin playing in a small club to people who couldn't care less about who he is which is one of the reasons why I decided to go last year. Foreigners in China are usually always friendly which makes it good fun over there but like you say, they're usually the only ones creating the atmosphere...and also that dice game you pointed out and drinking those drinks, I see thats still the norm then!

I wonder though how Armin must have felt though, not being able to pick a vibe from the 'crowd'. I remember Armin dropping Burned With Desire & Racoon-Love You More last year which certainly made my night then but by that time, no one was really paying any attention, haha!?! Anyway, don't think you would have missed anything in Shanghai, clubs over there are just not my cup of tea as they are just way too crowded and full of 'people with money'...but regardless, a clubbing experience that will stay with you for quite some time I gather laugh.gif

1st. Armin is getting married? wub.gif
2nd. Tbh i think it wouldnt be so terrible if we didnt had an AO for 2009,AO in Utrecht is still alive,i watch it every night and still im not bored of it still there is somehting more to hear each time, plus the full 9 hours live set..i was just lookign the toor dates the other night and i had this thought,he really deserves some time off.I wonder how he manage all these..After all,too much is never good neither for him or for us.Anyway when it stops being fun and creative for him travelling all around the world non stop then i think he defo deserves to chill down a bit rolleyes.gif

1. Yes

2. Armin said he wants to hibernate in 2009 and focus more on productions and remixes instead of touring. If that actually is gonna happen since he became the most popular again, guess we have to wait and see. The AO concept has been there and done. Doing it again is just milking out the same concept, doing the same trick once again and that doesn't actually improve the whole concept. If he wants to do an AO show again, I hope he improves it cause we (at least I and quite a few others) don't wanna hear the same Armin tracks he played this year already at every AO in 2008 and also 2005/2006.
Vrij
I agree in the sense that sooner or later the AO's will get a bit boring knowing the structure of it and everything and he'll have to come out with new tracks with vocalists just to keep it 'entertaining'. But thats the problem about being at the top, you have to be innovative and creative in order to keep his fans i.e. us laugh.gif and the masses dry.gif interested etc...

But maybe we could suggest ways in which he could keep us interested...
RonC
i think that would a neat idea vrij.....that deserves a new topic...but not just yet...cuz i think armin needs rest from this past AO wink.gif

Hey Eric,

you think Armin will play at Leiden-Citymoves on 30th of April 2009?
I hope he will return to Mayday in Dortmund/Germany again especially since Mayday and Nature One are the only events where you can experience Armin in Germany (Loveparade doesnīt count because itīs too short).

The presale for both events has already started but there are no informations about the line up yet: www.nature-one.de

Well April 30th is a national holiday and Armin has been playing at the market square in his home town on this day for many years, so it's rather likely he will do this again. This is a daytime party and at least for the last 2 years (maybe even more, I don't recall) after playing here he has jumped in his car and raced to Dortmund to spin at Mayday. Might happen again in 2009, because what you say is quite right, Armin doesn't really play in Germany outside Mayday and Nature One. I'll add them.

I really hope he's going to be at Nature One, but then again I guess the lineup is epic enough to warrant attendance without Armin, but Germany wants more Armin, PLS LOL happy.gif

I donīt know it exactly but I think they normally do it quite early. Since they book almost all the big names in electronic music I assume that they already have 70-80% of the line up. For Mayday there are already the first confirmed artists though no trance DJīs yet.

Well I really hope Armin will show up and I am quite sure about it because there are not too many chances for him to perform in Germany. Btw in the amazon.de description of his DVD (or yearmix? canīt remember) they write that in 2008 Armin finally had his breakthrough in Germany....
PsychoKilla666
Yeah it seems they are able to pour a good amount of money into Nature One and the lineup doesn't disappoint, cant wait for confirmations myself, but most likely going regardless

Global Gathering is on the 24-25th of July...you can already buy tickets and its not like he won't be playing. Its run by Godskitchen afterall wink.gif

Ok. now, know if he's visiting Monterrey, or Gdl only?

last time Armin was announced to be in Monterrey was around Jan 16 08' and they supposedly switched the venue to Baja California or something.
Anyways, it'll be good if he visited Monterrey, its been a while since I saw him live on here,

kind regards,
