So today I type in DI.FM to tune into GDJB prior to ASOT and am pissed to find out today on ASOT is a broadcast of a liveset from AMNESIA. I purposely took my lunch break an hour late to tune in and find out it's a rip of armin's set from Tuesday. BRUTAL.

If I wanted to hear a liveset from armin I would go see him in the club. ASOT is supposed to be the 'newest tunes selected, the hottest tracks in a row' not 'the most popular tunes over the past six mont that you've heard too many times'.

anyways, to make a long story short, STOP WITH THE LIVESETS unless they're actually LIVE.
Mac
Seriously, shut up.

Live sets are awesome. I cant wait to hear the one from Amnesia, get a feel for whats going on out there, and make me even more excited to when i get to go.

Armin does 52 ASOT shows a year, a few recorded sets is fine.

Please do not stop doing them Armin!
Freezel
Partly agree with you. I'm not a fan of broadcasts like these cause you hear pretty much the tracks you hear for months already. Since I'm not a fan of Armin doing short sets on parties (basically banging out the big tracks and well known tracks for the crowd) we can pretty much guess what will be on. I rather see him in a club and I rather have new tracks every week as well but that's not possible cause of his schedule and private life.

Ofcourse the people who don't like this are way in the minority. The majority likes it and also people who can't see him live and there's also a group of people that can't complain basically cause everything Armin does is already awesome and already the best ever before even hearing it. And if the majority is happy, easy decision.
ElBazzo
There has always been live sets on ASOT and there always will be. If you don't like it don't listen to it. While you mightn't like listening to live sets alot of other people do.
Fresh Prince
I would like to insult you very much, but I have to restrain myself here angry.gif
Mac
People say they want the newest tunes every week, but Armin literaly does an ASOT EVERY WEEK! He constantly gives you new tunes to listen to. Even if 1 week a month was a live set you would still be getting far more new music than anyone else gives you to listen to!

Give him a break man!
Mac
Besides which, if you were lucky enough to have been to a gig which he then broadcasts you have an awesome momento of the night. Its great to hear back a set which you heard live!

Heaven forbid actually hearing club music being played and mixed in a club setting in the way it was intended to be. rolleyes.gif

The odd liveset is fine by me. OK, they may not be the freshest tunes around and you suspect they're usually used as a filler when Armin's a bit busy but, hey, he's not a machine and needs a break every now and then.

I have nothing against live sets. It is good to change something or to do something new sometimes  rolleyes.gif

but on topic...it's true what some people said. he does this show for the fans and he doesn't get paid to do it. so just be glad that he still does it after so many years. give the guy break, didn't you see how pissed off he was in that picture in the funny thread? laugh.gif

Ok gotcha. I thought ASOT was supposed to be made by me but ok.

Most of the tracks are unreleased and some tracks were only a few weeks or days old.

I really notice a change in attitude. A few years back it was no problem to play a good track more than once on ASOT. Now after 3 plays a track is considered 'old'.

Doing a liveset is considerably more work than just a regular 2 hour mix.

No more livesets then?

No No No .. this is only 1 Member Opinion .. Today's Live set was Awsome .. but armin , i have a request that all Members would like to say .. We need "TRANCE" not that crappy Electro and house ! something from 138 - 140 bpm ! its like "Above&beyond , Sean tyas , Aly&Fila , J O'C , etc"
MissCandace98823
Wow, Armin responded! Personally I like them and many others do too. Makes you feel like you're there and if you were there as someone stated before me it reminds them of being there. I like the livesets but that's just me.

Definately keep doing the livesets. Every now and then it's good to hear "massive choons" all together (as compared to a regular episode, where there's a higher chance of hearing more not-as-pleasent-tunes). With livesets you can't go wrong! Plus, look at the reactions for ASOT 359, I'd say many would agree with me on this one!
GuyFawkes is also right, but only half-right! While many of us would love to hear more of those >135BPMs, it's normal you play <135BPMs in a club! It's a live set after all.
But hey, maybe that's a idea you should try for a future ASOT: a full episode with only pure trance!

Cheers,
Cosmin

imo - live sets are great - catched spirit and atmosphere is one and only- no doubt of that, but it should be long more than 2 hours! its like watching movie just in the middle - if you know what i mean wink.gif

Hmm i think progressive trance should be played instead of house, it doesn't have to be 140bpm, it's good even at 132bpm or a bit lower.

Since Armin has found the time to read this forum I want to make a complaint about his recent sets. Well Armin plays great tracks, but the sets are lacking of flow. I enjoy each track individually not the set as a whole, like it should be with trance imo.

cool will do but guess only once in a while is good.
Just trying to see what everyone thinks.
I think it's cool to have a live show once every two months or so.

I think you should do livesets once every two months during autumn, winter & spring and do more livesets in the summer (once or twice per month maybe ?) tongue.gif

I think sometimes the system with 1h+1h is good when U don't have enough good tunes, but if U have more than 10 good tunes, more than 1h good tune then we have some kind of problem. Ofcourse you can play some of these next week but what if next week U will be have also more than 1h great new tunes that will be another problem. Hope, you know what I mean.

So, my suggestion is 1h the newest tunes selected and 1h non-stop in the mix if U don't have enough great tunes to show us and if U have more great tunes the 2hs show.

But really, important is stuff quality, don't matter how you would/should presenting it for us. It's all about A State Of Trance, huh?

Bit late response, but here's my opinion:

1. That guy acts like the world has gone because you broadcasted your liveset. If he would've listened to last weeks episode then he should've known.
2. I definitely like livesets. Because I don't have the chance to see you that often live somewhere, I still can listen to your livesets. And let's face it, people know you because your DJ-gigs. (Well I do, Sensation 2003 it was, still get 'kippenvel' if I listen to that set wink.gif)
3. Normal episodes of ASOT are seriously nice, but once in a while I like livesets too. As said before, once every 2 months would be good.

I know what you mean, but Armin doesn't have to play all good tunes out there. Then he would need 5 hours a week. If he has too many tunes for a week, he just picks the best of these good ones. Off course it's his own choice, because it's his radioshow.

Armin, just continue with what you're doing. There have always been people that complain and there always will be.

I don't see it as "complaining". I know opinions sometimes sound harch but I try to see the constructiveness of it.

I'm keeping this forum alive (and public!) on my site to see what you guys think. I'm only human and I can't please everybody (duh!) but I like to read what you guys write. Weather "us" DJ's like it or not, we play music for each and every one of you so it doesn't harm to hear what you think.
