There is really a ton of excellent songs

The yearmix is good for about 80-85 tracks so I would think/hope he would include most of the great tracks of 2008. As for the Top 20 I'd love to hear his own TOP 20, but this has already been discussed in another thread.

I was thinking about starting a thread where people post their TOP 10 or 20 of the year.. then I colaborate everyones votes and then based on the amount of times each track is in someone list it gets a vote and using the forum members votes list a overall TOP 20, just to guage the forum members thoughts. Worth doing? Could be fun

*EDIT* I just went through every ASOT tracklist of 2008 and found about 80 tracks that I absolutely love! Narrowing that down to 10 or 20 is so painful. It's so hard to remove tracks I love!

There are also alot of tracks I love that havnt even been played on ASOT but unfortunetly they are ineligible for this, but I have finally come up with my Top 20 of 2008. There's so many good tracks that I had to cut out, but you cant fit 100+ great tracks into a Top 20, so I eventually decided to make my Top 20 the Top 20 tracks I listen to the most because I just never get sick of them. As an example, Orjan has released 4 massive tracks this year, I love them all but not one of his tracks made my final 20 (Yes, not even La Guitarra) I just had to go with the tracks that give me that tingly feeling everytime I listen to them. So many good tracks this year!

My selection for the yearmix so far

i just hope the yearmix will contain more of the trance and less of the house

meaning that if more house tunes make it in .......... then tunes like Godspeed, Satori Waterfalls, Sensation Seekers, Never Again, Turn It On etc. wont make the cut and those are great trance tunes!

I personally dont mind Armin picking the tracklist for the yearmix, as long as he does'nt forget some of the great tunes from the turn of the year.

I.e

I Believe
Anticipation
Deep Psychosis
Songless
Ocean Drive Boulevard.

I noticed on the 2007 Yearmix, some songs that finished quite high up the year end poll did not make the final mix. Biggest surpises were NYC and The Great Escape, I already know he could not include Angelicus but still this was a surprise, hope that does not happen this time with any big tracks.

I agree with most of those, there have been some great tunes this year which I have no doubt will make the yearmix such as

I Just hope that other great tunes such as Benediction, Turn It On, Longest Road etc make the cut. With regards to 07 Yearmix, I have no idea why NYC and Great Escape did not make the mix. Maybe a licensing problem!

If the suggestion is that armin picks the tunes for the yearmix, why is everyone giving their opinion of what the tunes should be?
The yearmix is the top 80-90 tracks from the top20 voting results in no particular order. So either way suggesting your tunes here is pointless, but it doesnt hurt , right?

My recommendation would be to stop using rhythm loops. They make the whole thing sound very cheesy. Which is a shame since so much work goes into making them. Tbh I listen to them once and never touch them again.

Mainly hope he just goes down a more serious route, like he did with the 2004. Lots of really deep tracks - that year mix was an absolute journey, rather than a collection of big tracks from the year (albeit mixed in a clever way in the main). I think most of the year mixes louse focus after the half way mark, which the 04 version didnt do. Mind you, 04 was a prety special year

I am almost 99% positive that the yearmix is the TOP20 + TOP20-80 = TOP80 tracks that people vote for when voting for the TOP20. So whether people take the time to list tracks here or not is irrelevant.

It wont be like the one in 04, but it will be worse, that is for sure. And not because of Armin, but because of the people who will vote.

I agree wholeheartedly with you on this, the last 2 years I've been wanting Armin to select his OWN top 20, though it gets more fans and hits to the website for fans to vote, they can be very biased. We want an unbiased person who has a good view of the scene and current tracks out there, which is why we want YOU Armin xD.

I cant wait for the year mix, though I missed a ton of episodes this year, it will still be good to hear. ASOT 2008 wasn't as good as '07, but I hope the year mix comes through

I'm not sure I fully agree on you with that: Armin is too nice to fellow producers/DJ's sometimes, imo. Like with Inertia - The System(?), calling it one of the most massive tunes of this year and even putting it on the ASOT Radio Classics Volume 3. I beg your pardon? Did he do that to give Inertia(wasn't it an alias of John 0 Callaghan? ) a little extra support, or something? Besides that, sometimes Armin picks Tune Of The Weeks which are so "Hypical" and just because Armin calls them massive, people vote for 'em.
