Full Version: Asot On "the System", Xm 82?

Has ASOT been dropped from XM Radio? It used to be on Saturdays at midnight on "The System", which is station 82 on XM. But the last few weeks it hasn't been aired. XM Radio's website claims that ASOT is still on. Several emails to XM have gone unanswered. ASOT was dropped for a few weeks in May/June 2008, but then it returned. Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for your response. I saw the earlier thread. But what's odd is that ASOT came back sometime in mid or late June. I even got an email from XM radio about it when they restored it. But now it has mysteriously disappeared again. Arg. angry.gif

I've never listened to ASOT on Sundays. Crap! Now I feel like I been missing something...

As for XM82, they may just bs shuffling their line-up. I listen to ASOT on Thursdays at 4:00 PM Eastern. Didn't catch it last week, but I believe it still airs at that slot.

Sorry can't help ya...

Unfortunately, XM Sirius dropped The System (channel 82 on XM) from their line-up. I had grown accustomed to listening to ASOT on Thursday afternoons. They still offer The System on XM Online, however. That's something, but it's not enough for dedicated AVB fans who happen to live in the United States. sad.gif

I don't live in the US so it doesn't really hurt me but if I did the only reason I would subscribe to XM would have been The System channel. They probably wanted to free up space for another hiphop channel to pull more listeners and make more money, that's how the broadcasting networks work everywhere unfortunately. The sad side effects of making business out of art.

WOW is right! I woke this morning and the System was gone! We do get Sirius channel 80 The area which is playing great music - already played Serenity by Armin. But I don't see ASOT in the program list. I also don't see TATW - Above and Beyond, and the Anjunabeats show that XM had. They don't allow streaming audio at my work (no di.fm) so I rely on XM or mp3 player when I am at work.

I'm completely bummed right now.

Armin, please start releasing ASOT as a podcast! The whole show, not just the mini-version that we have now.

According to on-air comments on Sirius XM's BPM channel, they are working on getting ASOT added to Area.

That's great news! I sent an email asking about ASOT and TATW. Hopefully they will announce it soon. We do still get the System on DirectTV and they did play ASOT yesterday at 3PM. I worked from home so I could here ASOT 378 on di.fm, then I got to hear ASOT 372 on DirectTV. So an afternoon of Armin. Can't get much better than that.

Thanks for the update!

It looks like The System will continue on DirecTV, but their program listing doesn't mention ASOT any more. Hopefully The Area, XM80, will pick up ASOT. I've sent them an email too.

Information about the XM/Sirius stations on DirecTV can be found <a href="http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPage.jsp?assetId=P5030006">here</a>.

Spoke to the XM Radio folks and they stated ASOT will be transmited via XM 80 "The Area" and they will still broadcast XM 82 (Online only), Interesting that the stated that when I do not see ASOT as part of there program lineup. They may have told me that to just calm me down and shut me up..... smile.gif
I'm not giving up though still under contract for 6 more months.

I don't know about you, but I still have "The System" XM 82 on my DirecTV channel 860, but you're right about ASOT on Saturday nights- it is no more. This is the first I've heard about XM and Sirius finally merging, though I know there was talk of this almost since they first began. Anyway, in addition to "The System", I'm not sure of the XM channel numbers, but there is "BPM" on DirecTV channel 859 and "The Move" on channel 858. On the latter channel, it plays Sirius' "The Area", and I listened to Paul Oakenfold's "Perfecto On Tour" show for the first time tonight, in the same time slot as ASOT- not bad, but not as good as ASOT usually is. Someone please update this thread if they hear ASOT will be back on XM/Sirius/DirecTV.
