Hi ,

Being a die hard Trance fan and webdesigner rolled into one I decided to spend some evenings on an ASOT400 website.
Trance is such a thankfull subject to create websites and eyecandy that it's just a break from my daily webdesign work.

Hope you all like it. Let me know what you think.
I'll add more info as we progress ...
If you have ideas (contentwise) be sure to let me know here.

Oh yeah , turn your speakers up biggrin.gif
and erm , if you see errors or glitches , let me know too ... as I said ... made this in a few dozen hours ... possible that I missed some stuff.

SO ... UNOFFICIAL ASOT400 FANSITE : http://www.tranceconnect.com

Very nicely done indeed smile.gif

Unfortunately it's all in Flash. Don't get me wrong, I think Flash is awesome but the trend in international high traffic websites is moving away from using Flash, since it requires more bandwith than plain ole html (which is not available everywhere) and the increasing amount of combinations of different webbrowsers, versions, devices (smartphones, tv's) and operating systems (windows/linux/mac) makes flawless execution on the client device harder and harder.

Just look at Armin's new site: the one thing that is giving users all over the world problems in using it is that little Flash animation in the background.

That website is not able to browse normal with a older PC

It's not able to browse normally with any pc, mac or browser. Gives problems on my Mac, laptop and pc at work.
Ericc B
I think the problems are actually caused by the Javascript that they use in the background to detect and comply with different kinds of browsers and platforms. That is why webdevelopers tend to go back to plane and simple W3C compliant html and stop using all kinds of tricky components like Flash objects.

Another option would be to build the entire site in Flash (like Wolfie did) and either accept that not all devices are able to display it and/or build a 2nd "simple html" version of the site for those unfortunate users.

Like Paul van Dyk has done. Just check it out. It really puts Armin's site to shame.

thanx all for the proverbial flowers smile.gif
Ericc B , your comments are all legit.

Using Flash as your only technology to deliver your webcontent is a hard choice to make and has everything to do with the audience you are targetting , the product you are selling and also the timeframe we're in.

in a year or two every website will probably HAVE to have a simple HTML W3C compliant alternative for all those other devices that will (and have) become common goods in every day life.

Flash is such an amazing tool (toy) for designers to go all the way , anything is possible once the flash plugin is fired up ... that's the beauty of it.
Also for trance dj's, party's etc ... people just expect eyecandy (and their info to be presented in a user friendly way) ... and there's the balance we have to take into account ... useability vs eyecandy ... not easy smile.gif
