Full Version: Asot.. A Savior Amidst The Economic Collapse?
Armin van Buuren Official Forum > Topics > A State of Trance - the radioshow
PDMA
It is at times like this, When all is horrible. I lost my job and am hurting in an almost unspeakable way. The partners at our firm layed off 30 people in the last 60 days.
Terms like repossed, evicted have never applied to me for I have always payed my bills and lead a responsible life.

It if werent for my family and THIS SHOW... to lift the pain in my heart, I dont know if I would get through it.

Question: Is the music industry hurting because of the global economy issue?

ASOT is pretty much the only constant in my life.

Question: What crisis has this show got YOU thru in your life? Just Curious

i'm glad asot has been able to do as much for you as it has. i've taken a break and have been looking for music via other venues. but it'd be erroneous for me to say that armin's show hasn't held some sort of significant position in my life for the past four or more years -- not in the sense that it's helped me get through a lot of things, but that recent experiences of my life have been partly defined by it, connected to it. i can listen to a set and remember a specific event in my life. i think that's special. it means a lot to me. i do remember, it was one of the things my last girlfriend and i used to connect during the times we couldn't see one another (which was most of the time (failed relationship, ahoy)). rolleyes.gif

The economy is hurting everyone, not just in the U.S. but the world as a whole. I personally would like to see Armin and the other DJs perhaps scale down a little bit on their ticket prices at their performances just because so many of us diehard fans are hurting financially and every little dollar we can save means alot. I am a huge fan of dance music and it gets me through alot of the tough times in my life as well as the great times.

I read something really cool yesterday. I am going to WMC and they are actually holding an event to talk with DJ's and producers to Green their tours. I bought the badge so I think I am going to go to this. I am not a tree hugger but I do believe in protecting the environment. Should be interesting.

I have to say that ASOT has helped me move on after my older brother died of cancer in 2004. I have to say that I think that one of the reasons why I like trance is because when you can hear a track when you are happy and it can really make you happy. You can hear the same track when you sad and you can feel sad. Trance fulfills whatever emotion that I am feeling. I know what you are going though. I got laid off in October, I have to say that the upside in my scenario is that I am still in College so this economic crisis is really having me think about what I want to do. I have the ability to change my program of study and not to mention I go to school in Atlanta so I am living at home. I have to agree with you without Armin, ASOT, and the people of this forum that make me laugh everyday, I really don't know where I would be. wub.gif

Ditto man, totally.
PDMA i'm sorry about ur situation and i'm glad u look to hold on to some kind of positives instead of dwelling on the ever-so-present negative. Keep at it wink.gif

A State of Trance has always been special to me in the sense that it's ALWAYS been an incredible source of happiness, joy, and love.
A lot of things are a source of positivity to me, but ASOT is in a especially unique way.
It's never got me thru some terrible pain or hardship, but it does even more imo.
I know that if i'm down even in the least bit, ASOT will pick up my day.

ASOT's like waking up to a beautiful, clear, and sunny day...whaddya do?
You smile smile.gif You appreciate the good things in life a little more.
You just feel better.

People know me as someone who's ultra positive almost all of the time.
A huge part of why I'm like that is ASOT. cool.gif

it was not ASOT but Armin Only that last year brought me back to life after a lot of pain, stress and dull everyday stuff. the emotions, the strong feeling of happiness i got there, though, was sustained thanks to ASOT. its just a ray of light through the cloud when everything else seems gloomy. and the same goes for trance as a whole. a favourite tune can always make me smile and forget for a while the bad things in life. when armin plays it, well, can't describe it wink.gif
a friend of mine recently told me she was absolutely amazed at the way i looked on armin and asot and everything connected to them. she said everyone needed a passion like this to make them feel good. i have to agree with her. i just can't imagine not waiting for Thursday evening.. or reading the forum everyday and talking with people about this.
so as long as ASOT makes you happy, keep it up wink.gif
and lets hope Armin will be there as well to keep it alive for the years to come.

Youīre not the only one rolleyes.gif
People who are dedicated to strong, emotional music like Trance, can get wonderful experiences with music.
Itīs a pity some people canīt go deep into the music and see that.

Well, i don't think you are crazy. Some people can cry because of book or movie. When i visit theatre it influences me so much that i can cry too and remember all feelings that i've got. As for trance, i don't cry when i listen to it, but it gives me good mood and make me think of smth or someone. For ex. Rush hour make me feel of eternity.

It is not actually the djs fault promoters charge high prices well it partly is but if u think about it every event armin plays rams out,the promoter charges alot and yes armin etc cost alot but it means the promoter makes a higher profit.
With armin only etc he could put the prices down but i dont blame him for charging alot, armin gigs are cheap compared to tiesto gigs normally priced at 40 a ticket and upwards.
